Out of Sight
I see you in the evening's rain
I hear you in one's joyous laughter
In and out of tune and in and out of range
In my heart such thoughts of you gather
There's been war and death and famine
Bitterness and greed and betrayal
Evil's hate seeps and lies are crammed in
Wounds to the soul that might just be fatal
There has been a great mistake
It's not my belief that a better day will dawn
Nor my condition to have one to confide in
The goodness of man is not here, it's gone
And I'm tired of drowning in whisky and gin
I lost you once but I’m determined — not again
Through strife, against their fight, I’ll push forward
The closest heart to my own, you were my truest friend
The absence of you is the absence of reason
I lay flowers by your grave every day
